First-Ever Gentian Blue 992 Turbo S Spotted Going For A Drive

Following a leak a couple of days ago on Instagram in which the soon-to-be unveiled 992 Turbo S was shown in complete detail from exterior to interior, we have yet another spyshot coming from Carscoops.com, this time of a Gentian Blue example.

Seen in the above shot is a debadged car sporting the aforementioned exterior colour and showing off some options which will be available on the new car. Right off the bat, one can spot the adaptive cruise control sensor in the front bumper, as well as what appears to be will be the new centerlock wheels. This picture also demonstrates the difference in size between the grilles of the Turbo front bumper compared to the Carrera front bumper. The traditional Turbo cues are also visible, such as the air intakes behind the doors and the big rear wing.

I have always been a fan of Porsche’s metallic blues, and I must say that Gentian Blue is the most deceiving out of all of them due to its tendency to show itself off as a dark colour in pictures, yet, when seen in person, it is actually a much lighter colour. Applied to the new Turbo S, it is able to show off the car’s lines as well as the brighter colours offered by Porsche such as Guards Red or Racing Yellow. Now, given that Gentian Blue is brighter in the flesh as I previously mentioned, I would have to see a Turbo S in the flesh in that colour in order to give a more accurate opinion.

Already teased for almost 2 years now, the 992 Turbo and Turbo S models have been rumoured to back a much bigger punch than their preceding models. Still powered by a 3.8L Twin-Turbocharged Flat-6 engine, the Turbo S supposedly produces approximately 640hp and 590 lb-ft of torque, a significant bump from the 991.2’s 580hp and 541lb-ft figures. All-wheel-drive is the drivetrain that will handle the transfer of all of this power, as has been since the 993 Turbo. Like the Carrera models, it is expected that the Turbo S will be available with 8-speed PDK transmission, albeit revised to compensate for the extra power. As seen in the 991, it is likely the model will remain PDK-only.

We can expect more details and clarification on the rumoured figures on the Turbo and Turbo S models once the car is officially unveiled by Porsche next month, highly likely the Geneva Motor Show. For the time being, we can all just continue to gaze at these leaked images while we await the big day.

Best Regards,
