Update July 31, 2020: This Cayenne is now SOLD
Think of Porsches with a manual transmission and the first thing that comes to mind will certainly be its sports cars. From the 911, to the Boxster, to the Cayman; all of these cars are really fun to drive when equipped with a manual transmission. Unbeknownst to many, Porsche offered manual transmission options on models in which an automatic transmission is simply the better choice. Well, on this post I am gonna discuss one of those models, the 92A Cayenne.
This model, introduced in 2010 and in production until 2018, was the second generation of the successful Cayenne SUV. Just like the first one, you had a full range of variants each with different engine and horsepower options. Most of these models, however, were only available with 8-Speed Tiptronic S transmission. That leaves the base model with the 3.6L naturally-aspirated V6 as the only one available with the 3-pedal option. With a power output of 300hp, it is still capable of giving a decent power kick on places like the freeway.
This example shown is currently for sale at Coventry Motorcar in Connecticut. It is a 2013 model year which was the second-to-last year of the pre-facelift 92A. Being finished in the solid combo of Black on Black means that it is a resale-friendly vehicle. The odometer shows 102,047 miles, so this has been doing its duty as a family vehicle. The asking price for this Cayenne is $22,000 USD. That price is not exactly too expensive per say, but for the miles that this family-getter has at the moment, it should at least be low enough to reflect that. In fact, for that same kind of money you can get yourself a Tiptronic example with much lower miles. What a difference a transmission can make.
In my opinion, while it is pleasing to see a manual Cayenne, specially in the 2nd generation, I do not think that it is the best model that you can buy. The one to have in my opinion is the 9PA(1st-generation) GTS with the manual, now that is what I like to call rare. But anyhow, more on that on a future post.
