Update July 31, 2020: This car is now SOLD
If you ever expect to get a 944 for cheap, you are gonna likely have to deal with the consequence of having to sort some issues out. About 95% of the time, the lowest priced 944s on the market have mechanical issues which would otherwise make the purchase not worth it at all. Additionally, with these cars being almost 40 years old, they have seen a lot of miles/kilometres over the years. Still, there are trouble-free, lower mileage 944s around, but to get into those cars you will have to open your pockets more. After doing a little bit of searching today on transaxle Porsches for sale, I have found a car that perfectly fits the bill for a potential 944 buyer.

Currently for sale at The Barn Miami in Florida is a 1985 model-year coupe. Do note that this one was not produced before mid-1985, so it does not have the updated interior and mechanical revisions. It has Guards Red exterior with Black interior, among the best looking color combos on a 944. Now here is the best part, it only has 17,919 miles from new. That’s right, this car has really low mileage for being a 35 year old car. To add to that, its mechanical condition is intact and the body is rust-free. The price, only $7,900 USD. The car’s condition, as well as its low mileage and price, makes this example perhaps the best one available for sale at the moment.
As a longtime follower of the 944 market, I must say that I have never seen a car as good as this one for the price. Look at the picture above, and you will see that yes, it is a manual. The 944 also comes with a 3-speed automatic, but the 5-speed manual is the more desirable transmission. You can also see a brick phone from the period, which only adds to this car’s originality. Personally, I would go ahead and purchase this car if I was in the market for a 944. The opportunity to purchase such a car could likely never come again.
