2004-Registered Carrera GT(Japan)

It’s been a while since I last spoke about the Carrera GT, Porsche’s extreme supercar from the 2000s that to this day continues to be a jaw-dropping sight. With a screaming 5.7L naturally-aspirated V10 that is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission with a ceramic clutch, it makes for one of the most exhilarating and frightening driving experiences ever. Now, this post is not meant to discuss the specifics of the Carrera GT, but you can expect to see a “Retrospect” post on the car in the future. I am here to discuss a very rare example on the other side of the planet.

The Car

For sale at Intermets in Nagano, Japan is an October 2004 build Carrera GT. Unfortunately due to the quality of the pictures, you can’t see the car’s production number, located below the gear lever. The main attraction of this car comes in the form of its colour combination, Fayence Yellow on Dark Grey. The aforementioned exterior colour was part of the standard colour palette for the Carrera GT, and is one of the most rare. Why? because only 89 Carrera GTs were made with this exteriour colour out of the 1,270 total. That alone makes this car a very rare bird.

The Condition

The car’s mechanical condition is of no surprise per Carrera GT market standards. It only has 9,641 kms from new and has never been in an accident. One of the things that I like about cars in Japan is how very well taken care of they are. Owners pampering their cars over there is not an uncommon sight, and it shows. Since it is already 15 years old, it is importable into Canada, where a Carrera GT is a rare sight.

Opinions & Conclusion

Like many supercar dealers in Japan, you have to inquire about the price, so I can’t say the exact figure. With that said, expect to pay a figure north of $1 million CAD, all thanks to the Fayence Yellow exterior. Being someone who likes cars with such colour combos, I must say now that this is my favourite color on the CGT. Of course some will say that it would be a tie between this color and Guards Red, but to me it is a matter of 1st and 2nd. There’s just something about this shade of yellow that gives you that “in your face” feeling. Park it beside a GT Silver or Black Carrera GT, and you will see what I mean. So, would I buy this car? the answer is yes, and use it as it is intended to be.
